About This Tour
A day on the southern peninsula that starts in the water and ends at sunset. The morning is given over to water sports at Tanjung Benoa, then the route climbs to the Garuda Wisnu Kencana cultural park and its 120-metre statue before reaching Uluwatu, a temple perched on a cliff seventy metres above the surf. You watch the Kecak fire dance there as the sun goes down, and finish with a seafood dinner by candlelight on Jimbaran beach.

Water Sports at Tanjung Benoa
Pick from banana boat, jet ski, parasailing, flying fish or a glass-bottom boat to the turtle island. All operators are licensed and provide life jackets and instruction.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana
The cultural park is built around a 120-metre statue of Vishnu riding the bird Garuda, the tallest in Indonesia. Wide plazas cut through the limestone give it scale.

Uluwatu Temple
One of the six sea temples that guard the island, standing on a cliff seventy metres above the Indian Ocean. Walk the clifftop path, and keep sunglasses and hats out of reach of the resident monkeys. Sarong provided.

Kecak Fire Dance
A hundred men chant in interlocking rhythm while the Ramayana is acted out around a fire, with the sun setting into the ocean behind the stage.

Seafood Dinner at Jimbaran
Grilled fish, prawns and squid at a table set directly on the sand, with candles and the sound of the surf. Ordered fresh from the day catch.
